Why PBworks Engineering is Different
“As someone who works in the company already, I agree that these are many things that make us different. But I think that's primarily because of the degree to which they are true, something an outside candidate would not be able to know. To me, what's special about PBworks is our honesty in acting as a business that is valued and depended on by customers.” -- from Jim Blomo, Operations, in response to this page
Our process rocks
- We think its pretty important to be able to move fast where we need to. We deploy releases to the production cluster at least twice a week. Our goal is to increase that to daily.
- We make use of Unit Testing and QA automation where we can. This helps us streamline the process of writing code and getting it in front of real users -- without burdening humans.
- Other companies schedule "fun" events, like happy hour or special outings. We have those and think they are fun, too, but our real job satisfaction comes from having joy in the actual work itself.
Our customers love us, and we love them
- It is inspiring that our users send us "love letters" daily. We love to hear how our product solves their problems and makes their lives better.
- When designing features, we engage our users. We show them wireframes, perform usability testing, enroll them in a alpha test group ("The A-Team") and hold special webinars to show off our newly built features.
You are joining a great team
- We're passionate about technology; we're geeks. We want to improve the world via technology. We have a sense of humor and we have a good time.
- We also fly helicopters, ride bikes, drink beer, make music, and have social lives outside of PBworks.
We have tons of users & traffic
- We have more traffic and users then our competitors. Yes, even the "big guys". PBworks is hot.
- It is also nice to be making real revenue, too. We're a successful business.
We're really good at what we do
- We're good engineers. We are skilled programmers, and, generally speaking, we know what we are doing ;)
- We are selective about who we hire. We want thought leaders in development, usability, product expertise and operations. Our goal is for PBworks Engineering to earn a reputation.
Our product kicks ass
- PBworks is special. Even internally, we use a PBworks to orchestrate the entire operations of the company. Everything we do has a workspace page; on a daily basis, we spend significant time using our own workspace.
- We're not limited to workspaces; our product is going places. We've already started some interesting projects and strategies aimed at making something much larger and encompassing.
