What is the PBworks Partner Program for Education?
Attention: The page below is for corporate partners and associations only. If you're an educator or librarian and would like a free Premium workspace for this school year, join the PBworks Back to School Challenge.
PBworks wants to make 2008-2009 the year of collaborative learning.
We know that budgets are going to be tight, and we don’t want a lack of funds to deter educators from using collaborative technologies like workspaces with their students.
PBworks already hosts over 250,000 educational workspaces, helping teachers bring online collaboration to their students. And all our workspaces are 100% advertising-free.
To this end, PBworks is giving each teacher or librarian who signs up as part of the program between August 18 and October 31, a free premium workspace (regular price: $250/year)
For example, if you sign up for a free workspace on October 1, you would receive a premium upgrade that lasts until September 30, 2009. Each fall, PBworks plans to offer additional programs that will let participants retain their premium status free of charge.
You can learn more about all the ways you can use a workspace in your classroom to enhance and support student learning over on our PBworks Academic page, or the PBworks Educator Community.
PBworks will give each partner a special web page your members can visit to create a free, premium educational workspace. You can offer this as a special membership benefit to your teachers and librarians.
Once a teacher or librarian creates a workspace, he or she will also be eligible to participate in PBworks’s Back-To-School Challenge, which will offer a chance to win free school supplies and other prizes by sharing lesson plans, blogging, and offering tips on creating a collaborative classroom or library.
What's the difference between a free and a premium workspace?
PBworks's Premium "Gold" workspaces offer significantly more functionality than its free educator workspaces:
| Features | Free | Gold |
| Storage | 10 MB | 2 GB |
| Page and folder-level access controls | No | Yes |
| Customizable logo and colors | No | Yes |
| Full downloadable backups of all changes and revisions | No | Yes |
| Advertising free | Yes | Yes |
Page and folder-level access controls are especially useful for creating private or semi-private student folders that one student can access but others cannot.
How can I participate?
Simply let us know, and we’ll create a special web page to which you can send your members. Participation is completely free. Contact edupartners@pbworks.com to participate.
We also plan to continue rolling out programs built around the "Year of Collaborative Learning" theme, and will be able to offer follow-on opportunities such as participating in a "Collaborative Teacher of the Year" awards program.
What benefits do we get for participating?
All of your members will be able to create a free, premium workspace (regular price: $250/year). You can offer this as a special membership benefit. This offer is not available on our general Web site.
In addition, teachers and librarians who create public workspaces can also list themselves in PBworks’s directory of educational PBworks spaces: http://www.publicpbwikis.com/educational
PBworks will also list its partners on a special partner page that will be visible to the hundreds of thousands of educators who visit PBworks each month.
Who can participate in the program?
All educators (K-12, homeschool, higher education) are eligible to create a free, premium educational workspace (regular price: $250/year). This offer is not available on our general Web site.
